Producer Spotlight · Jura · Special Offer
If you have been following the global fine wine conversation, you will have noticed that Jura keeps coming up. This small, mountainous region in eastern France, wedged between Burgundy and the Swiss border, produces wines of such distinctive personality that collectors who discover them rarely look back.
This month, we are putting the spotlight firmly on one of Jura's most respected family estates: Domaine Rolet.
Why Jura?
The continental climate, the ancient grey marl soils, and a cast of indigenous grape varieties combine to produce wines of genuine originality.
Trousseau, the red grape at the heart of this spotlight, is light in colour but intense in flavour, offering wild berry fruit, iron-like minerality, and a savoury depth that makes it uniquely compelling.
The Chardonnays from Jura, particularly from the L'Étoile appellation, carry a richness and textural complexity that rewards anyone willing to step beyond more familiar bottles.
About Domaine Rolet
Domaine Rolet was founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet, and across two generations the family built it into one of Jura's most celebrated names. Today the estate spans 65 hectares across four appellations, Arbois, Côtes du Jura, L'Étoile, and Château-Chalon with vineyards now in organic conversion since 2020.
Under the direction of Cédric Ducoté, who took over in 2018, the domaine has maintained its commitment to meticulous viticulture, low yields, and optimal ripening while pushing the estate toward greater sustainability.
The philosophy is straightforward: let the terroir speak. Grey marl soils, continental climate extremes, and indigenous varieties do the talking. The winemaking simply stays out of the way.
This Month's Featured Wines & Promotion
We are pleased to offer two Domaine Rolet wines at a special case price this July:
- Domaine Rolet: Arbois Trousseau Red 2022 The Trousseau grape is Jura in a glass. This 2022 delivers bright red fruit, earthy minerality, and a freshness that makes it one of the most food-friendly reds you can pour. Excellent with charcuterie, mushroom dishes, or lightly spiced lamb. A wine that rewards both the curious and the seasoned palate.
- Domaine Rolet: 'L'Étoile' Chardonnay White 2023 L'Étoile is a tiny, prestigious appellation within Jura, named for the star-shaped marine fossils found in its soils. This Chardonnay carries all of that mineral heritage: crisp, layered, and lengthy, with the quiet confidence that comes from exceptional terroir. A serious white wine at an approachable price.
