Château La Clotte

Saint-Emilion

The Domain

Château La Clotte is a discreet and historic estate located in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. With roots dating back several centuries, the property is today part of the Vauthier family portfolio, benefitting from the same rigorous standards and technical expertise that underpin Château Ausone.

The vineyard is situated on limestone-rich soils on the Saint-Émilion plateau, a terroir particularly well suited to Merlot, which forms the core of the blend, complemented by Cabernet Franc. Yields are kept deliberately low, and vineyard work is carried out with precision to preserve balance, freshness, and aromatic clarity.

The Style

In the cellar, winemaking follows a classic and restrained Saint-Émilion approach. Gentle extraction and carefully managed ageing allow the wines to express purity of fruit and terroir identity, with oak playing a supporting role rather than dominating the profile.

Château La Clotte produces elegant and finely structured Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wines, offering supple tannins, refined aromatics, and a harmonious palate. These wines combine immediate approachability with the ability to age gracefully, making La Clotte a quiet but highly respected reference among Right Bank Bordeaux.
