Château La Gaffeliere

Saint-Emilion

The Domain

Château La Gaffelière is one of the most historic and respected estates in Saint-Émilion, classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé. Located at the southern entrance of the appellation, between the limestone plateau and the clay-limestone slopes, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir that has been cultivated since Roman times.

Owned by the Malet Roquefort family for over three centuries, Château La Gaffelière is today managed by Alexandre de Malet Roquefort, combining deep-rooted tradition with a modern, precision-driven approach. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, on well-drained limestone and clay soils that promote balance, aromatic complexity, and freshness.

The Style

Viticulture is carried out with meticulous care, focusing on sustainable practices, controlled yields, and parcel-by-parcel management. In the cellar, vinification is elegant and restrained, favouring finesse and terroir expression over extraction. Ageing in French oak is carefully calibrated to enhance structure while preserving purity of fruit.

Château La Gaffelière produces refined, harmonious Saint-Émilion wines known for their silky tannins, aromatic clarity, and long, graceful ageing potential. Highly regarded by collectors and sommeliers alike, La Gaffelière is a benchmark for classic yet contemporary Saint-Émilion.
