Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc

The Domain

Château Cantemerle is one of the most historic estates in the Médoc, classified as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé (1855) and located in the southern part of Haut-Médoc. With origins dating back to the Middle Ages, Cantemerle is renowned for producing consistently elegant and refined Left Bank Bordeaux.

The vineyard is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, on deep gravel soils over clay. This classic Médoc terroir provides excellent drainage and contributes to the wine’s structure, aromatic complexity, and ageing potential.

The Style

Viticulture is carried out with precision and sustainability in mind, with careful parcel management and controlled yields. In the cellar, winemaking is traditional yet precise, favouring balance and finesse over excessive extraction. Ageing in French oak is finely calibrated to support structure while preserving freshness and purity of fruit.

Château Cantemerle produces wines known for their harmony, silky tannins, and aromatic elegance — offering a refined expression of Haut-Médoc that is approachable in youth yet capable of graceful ageing. Highly regarded by collectors and sommeliers alike, Cantemerle is a benchmark for classic, well-balanced Left Bank Bordeaux.
