Domaine Robert Groffier

Cote de Nuits

The Domain

The Groffier family has been rooted in the Côte de Nuits since the 19th century, when Frédéric Groffier first cultivated vines in the region. Two generations later, Robert Groffier began bottling the estate’s wines under the Domaine name, establishing a reputation for finesse and balance.

Despite consistently producing refined and elegant wines, the Domaine remained relatively discreet until 2006, when Nicolas Groffier took over from his grandfather Robert and his father Serge. With a clear vision, firm convictions, and deep respect for family tradition, Nicolas has elevated the estate to the very top tier of Burgundy, refining precision, purity, and depth while remaining faithful to its historical identity.

The Style

The wines of Domaine Robert Groffier Père & Fils are defined by elegance, precision, and purity of expression, rather than power or extraction. They exemplify a classical Côte de Nuits profile, where terroir transparency and balance take precedence over density.

On the nose, Groffier wines are typically refined and aromatic, offering layers of fresh red and black fruits—cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry—interwoven with floral notes (violet, rose petal), subtle spice, and delicate earthy nuances. Oak is discreet and finely integrated, never masking the fruit.

On the palate, the wines are silky, poised, and remarkably harmonious. Tannins are fine-grained and elegant, supporting a core of vibrant fruit and natural acidity. There is a distinctive sense of energy and lift, with length driven by freshness and mineral tension rather than weight.
