The 2023 Robert Groffier Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge punches well above its regional classification. Nicolas Groffier used fully destemmed fruit — two-thirds from vineyards below Clos de Vougeot, one-third from Morey-Saint-Denis — aged in older one- and two-year-old barrels. The nose is complex and dark-fruited, with blackcurrant, dark cherry and raspberry jam lifted by violet, lavender and a touch of tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied with real density and energy, ripe and mouth-filling yet kept fresh by a lively line of acidity.
