The 2023 Robert Groffier Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is a powerful, deeply structured wine with serious aging potential. Notably, Nicolas Groffier opted for full destemming in 2023 — a departure from his usual approach — maturing the wine in 50% new oak. Deep ruby in the glass, the nose is initially reticent before opening to black raspberry, cherry, orange zest, rose petal, incense and black pepper. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, muscular and taut, with a fleshy attack and a firm, concentrated mid-palate that demands patience.
